Pray for Didsbury Community Church

A note from Trevor for our prayer: Let's pray for Didsbury Community Church (DCC).

At DCC we have been experienced a difficult journey as many people have left (in good relationship) to explore ministry vocations and callings elsewhere. The church has sensed this loss very acutely and has had to face some difficult challenges and decisions. Having called a meeting in May in regard to our future we have committed ourselves to prayer and waiting on God. We are in this process still as we truly wait for God. It has been critical that we did not make any decisions out of an overwhelming sense of loss and sadness and are now in a more relaxed and peaceful place. We minister diligently and faithfully and celebrate continued community ministry in different ways and celebrate some good thigns and new people among us...but mamny of the realities on the ground are still with us. We have a growing "fringe" but a shrinking core and that is the main problem. Thank you for praying for us and please continue to do so. We transition into a period of prayer, reflection and discussion in July.

A letter from overseas

The church has received this email letter from Andrew, please continue to keep him in your prayers.

To date this this has been the most challenging period overseas both at a personal level and work level and I have appreciated the prayer support given to Liz and myself during this time. We had to make a difficult and challenging decision which was compounded by my being overseas and very much appreciate the pastoral support and prayers during the process. Whilst I miss the fellowship of the local church it is good to be updated via the bulletin.

Whilst challenging the work is going well and I have an excellent and very industrious co-trainer who has worked in the Gulf region for some 10 years. He is also an excellent cook and the highlight of our week is his preparing a dinner for us every Wednesday evening (which is the end of our working week - Thursday and Friday being our weekend days) and brunch on a Thursday! Currently we each have our own apartment which enables us to have personal space as we are working together for 10 hours daily. However we have been advised that the agency is giving up the lease on my co-trainer's apartment at the close of this contract period and upon our return we will share the apartment which I am in.

In February I requested prayer for protection in all areas of life and work and especially in regard to my integrity. This was due to the 'politics' of this type of work and I would once again ask for concerted prayers for protection in all areas of work and life due to 'circumstances'. Such prayers are not taken for granted and it is a source of encouragement to know that I am being upheld in prayer. (Whilst at the District Assembly a former Sunday School Superintendent advised me that he has been and is praying for me on a daily basis since I left N.I. in 1975!)

I wish to encourage the Pastoral Team, Church Board and Church Body by saying that I do pray for the church and related needs on a daily basis. May I express my thanks to everyone and in particular the Pastoral Team for your love and support and I look forward to seeing everyone in the near future.

Every Blessing,

Andrew J Robinson

Boaz Trust - 'Raise the Roof'

Boaz Trust Raise the roof posterAll are invited to the The Boaz Trust's fundraiser of the year. The event is called 'Raise the Roof', and is an entertainment evening. They have got a great selection lined up, including live comedy from Andy Kind, music from local bands 'Share the Blame' and 'High House', live magic courtesy of David Deane ('Magic By David') as well as a charity auction.

It looks set to be a great night and will hopefully raise lots of cash for accommodation provision for destitute asylum seekers. It's happening on March 30th at Emmanuel Church, Didsbury, and costs £10 per ticket (£7 students/unwaged). Doors are from 7:30 for an 8pm start.

Tickets are available from the Boaz Trust, details are on their website. Alternatively just pop into the Boaz Trust's office to purchase tickets.
